Punjab’s captain Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed for 8 runs by Little in the 4th over. Short continued to pile on runs but was eventually dismissed by Rashid Khan in the 7th over.
Jitesh Sharma then joined the batting lineup, with Punjab’s score at 75/3 after 10 overs. The partnership of Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Jitesh exploited the favorable batting conditions, rotating the strike effectively and hitting loose balls. Mohit Sharma dismissed Jitesh for 25 in the 13th over.
Sam Curran and Rajapaksa took the attack to Gujarat’s bowlers, but Rajapaksa was eventually dismissed by Alzarri Joseph for 20 runs. Shahrukh Khan entered the game and hit a six off his first ball.
