Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya expressed heartfelt admiration for Ishan Kishan, referring to him as the “heartbeat” of the team who brought “freshness and energy” to the dressing room. In a video shared by MI, Hardik reflected on Kishan’s impactful seven-year stint with the franchise, where he became a beloved figure among teammates and fans.
Kishan, who played a pivotal role for MI from 2018 to 2023, was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for a whopping ₹11.25 crore. The bidding began at ₹2 crore, with Mumbai Indians initially trying to secure Kishan’s return. However, as the competition intensified, featuring teams like Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and eventually SRH, MI had to bow out.

Speaking about Kishan’s departure, Hardik highlighted his invaluable presence both on and off the field. “Ishan has been the freshness and the energy of the room. He always used to keep the dressing room alive, make people smile, and bring so much love to the team. That is something we are going to miss. You will always be MI’s pocket dynamo, and we all love you,” Hardik said.
Kishan also shared an emotional farewell message to MI fans and management, thanking them for their support throughout his journey. “So many memories, so many moments of joy, happiness, and growth. MI, Mumbai, and the Paltan will always remain in my heart. Thank you to the management, coaches, players, and fans for always being in my corner,” Kishan wrote on Instagram.
Ishan Kishan, who debuted in the IPL in 2016, has represented Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians over his career. In 105 matches, he has scored 2,644 runs at an average of 28.43 and a strike rate of 135.87, with 16 half-centuries and a highest score of 99. For MI, he accumulated 2,325 runs in 89 matches at an average of 29.80 and a strike rate of 136.84.
The explosive wicketkeeper-batter has also made his mark on the international stage, representing India in 61 matches across formats. He has scored 1,807 runs at an average of 33.46, with one century and 14 half-centuries, including a double-century. In T20Is, he has amassed 796 runs at a strike rate of 124.67, with six fifties and a best score of 89.
