Former cricketer Ian Bishop expressed optimism about Indian pacer Umran Malik’s potential resurgence following his move to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Malik was acquired by the Kolkata-based franchise for his base price of ₹75 lakhs.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Bishop highlighted the pivotal role KKR’s coaching team, led by Bharat Arun and Dwayne Bravo, could play in unlocking Malik’s peak performance. “I am hopeful that the excellent Bharat Arun, and the terrific mentorship of Dwayne Bravo can help Umran Malik find peak performance at KKR,” Bishop wrote.

Umran Malik, known for his raw pace, debuted in the IPL in 2021 and has since played 26 matches, claiming 29 wickets at an economy rate of 9.40. The 25-year-old also made his T20I debut for India in 2022 against Ireland, where he picked up 11 wickets in 8 matches, albeit at an expensive economy rate of 10.48.
