ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule Announced; here are all match dates, venues and timing in India

The cricketing world is set to experience a thrilling season as the World Cup 2023 gears up to start on October 5. ICC has announced the tournament schedule today where ten teams will participate in 48 ODI matches across 10 venues in India. England is set to take on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to open the much-anticipated tournament.

Home team India will launch their campaign on October 8, facing off against five-time World Cup winners Australia in Chennai. Ten teams are set to participate in the cricket extravaganza, with eight already having secured their spots through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The final two teams will be selected after the Qualifier tournament concludes in Zimbabwe on July 9.

The tournament format sees each team battling the other nine in a round-robin format, with the top four proceeding to the knockout stage and semi-finals.

Eagerly awaited by fans worldwide is the India-Pakistan clash slated for Sunday, October 15, in Ahmedabad. Their last face-off in the 2019 World Cup witnessed India clinch a significant victory in Manchester.

Australia, who will be seeking a change of fortunes after a defeat by South Africa in the last edition, will play the Proteas on October 13 in Lucknow. Other key fixtures include Pakistan versus Australia in Bengaluru on October 20 and England against South Africa in Mumbai the following day.

Hoping to redress their 2019 semi-final defeat, India will battle New Zealand on October 22 at the scenic Dharamsala venue. An exciting match between arch-rivals Australia and England will take place on November 4 in Ahmedabad.

India’s past record has been formidable, with seven consecutive wins, a streak only broken in 2021. However, they redeemed themselves with a thrilling victory against Australia in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

The final group stage match will see England and Pakistan compete in Kolkata on November 12. The semi-finals are scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Mumbai and Kolkata, respectively, both having a reserve day.

The grand finale will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19, with November 20 as the reserve day. All three knock-out fixtures will be held under lights, adding to the electrifying atmosphere that only World Cup cricket can offer.

Arch-rivals India, Pakistan to face-off at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium this October

In the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, traditional rivals India and Pakistan will face off this October at the impressive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

This much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan will mark their eighth encounter in a men’s World Cup. Pakistan, having recently broken their losing streak in the T20 World Cup, will aim to replicate this success in the 50-over format on October 15.

The history of matches between India and Pakistan at the World Cup stretches back to 1992, with subsequent meetings in 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2015, and 2019. The only World Cup that did not feature a clash between these two rivals was in 2007, a tournament in which both teams disappointingly failed to advance beyond the opening round.

Until recently, India has held an impressive unbeaten record in World Cup encounters against Pakistan, having won all seven previous matches, a streak that was also reflected in the T20 World Cups.
