The BCCI has announced two separate squads for the upcoming home tour against New Zealand, which includes 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs. Hardik Pandya will return as captain for the T20I format, while Rohit Sharma continues to lead in the 50-over format ahead of the World Cup.

KL Rahul and Axar Patel have not been included in the series due to family commitments. Ishan Kishan is expected to be the main wicketkeeper for the ODI series, with KS Bharat also being brought in. Rishabh Pant will not be playing due to his accident.

One notable absence from the squad is wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson. The selectors did not clarify the Kerala batsman’s situation, with many wondering if he was dropped or injured. Samson injured his knee during the T20I series against Sri Lanka.

In the T20I squad, senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested, as the BCCI continues with its plan to make Hardik Pandya the permanent T20I captain. Jasprit Bumrah will not be participating in this series again after being ruled out of the Sri Lanka ODI series.

Making a comeback to the T20I squad is Prithvi Shaw, who performed well in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament, although he did not make the cut for the test side against Australia.
