The final match of the three-game ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is set to take place on Sunday, January 15th at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Led by Rohit Sharma, India has had a successful run in the series so far, having won both previous matches by significant margins.

In the second match, Sri Lanka got off to a strong start, reaching 102/1 in the 16th over. However, after Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Kusal Mendis, the Sri Lankan team struggled to maintain their momentum, ultimately being bowled out for 215 in 39.4 overs. Nuwanidu Fernando had a strong debut, scoring 50 off 63 with six fours.

India faced some challenges while chasing the modest total of 216, being reduced to 86/4 in 14.2 overs. But a 74-run partnership between KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya helped steady the ship, with Rahul remaining unbeaten on 64 off 103 as India achieved the target with 40 balls to spare.

The pitch in Trivandrum is expected to be a sporting one and a high-scoring game is expected. The playing conditions will be pleasant with temperatures around 31 degrees Celsius and no chance of rain.

India (IND) probable playing XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill/Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer/Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel/Washington Sundar, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, Kuldeep Yadav

Both Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav might have a chance to feature in the match as India have already wrapped up the series. But in whose place is the big question? With the form he is in, India wouldn’t want to leave out Shubman Gill, while that would mean Rohit would have to be rested. Suryakumar Yadav might come in place of Shreyas Iyer, while Washington Sundar is a like-for-like replacement for Axar Patel.

Sri Lanka (SL) probable playing XI: Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis (wk), Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Nuwanidu Fernando, Dasun Shanaka (C), Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage/Maheesh Theekshana, Chamaika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara

Although Sri Lanka lost both games there are not a lot of options for them on the bench. Maheesh Theekshana for Dunith Wellalage is the only quality replacement they possess.
