India stormed into the final of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup after a dominant nine-wicket victory over England in the semi-finals on Friday. With this emphatic win, the defending champions set up a title clash against South Africa, scheduled for Sunday.
India’s spinners laid the foundation for the victory by dismantling England’s batting lineup, restricting them to just 113/8. England started strongly after winning the toss and opting to bat, with Davina Perrin (45 off 40) and captain Abigale Norgrove (30 off 25) leading the charge. Their aggressive stroke play, which included six boundaries and three sixes combined, helped England reach a solid 73/2 at the halfway mark.

However, India’s bowling attack turned the game around in the latter half of the innings. Aayushi Shukla played a pivotal role by dismissing both Perrin and Norgrove, shifting the momentum in India’s favor. Parunika Sisodia also kept the pressure on, ensuring England’s middle order struggled to find runs. Vaishnavi Sharma then delivered a sensational 16th over, picking up three wickets, causing England’s innings to collapse from a promising position. A late contribution from Amrutha Surenkumar helped push England’s total to 113/8.
India’s chase began on a strong note, with openers G Kamalini and Gongadi Trisha setting the platform with a commanding start. The duo added 44 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket, putting England’s bowlers under immense pressure. The partnership flourished until Phoebe Brett provided England with a breakthrough, dismissing Trisha for 35 off 29 balls.
Sanilka Chalke then joined Kamalini in the middle to ensure that India’s chase remained on track. Kamalini continued her impressive batting display, bringing up her half-century with a stylish boundary. She then sealed India’s win in style, finding the ropes again to complete the chase with five overs to spare.
