India Schedule for Asia Cup 2023 : Matches List, Dates, Timing and Venues

Team India is all set to make a blazing start to their Asia Cup 2023 campaign as they face off against arch-rivals Pakistan in the first round group stage on Saturday, September 2. The highly anticipated clash will take place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka, owing to India’s concerns over security in Pakistan.

In an unprecedented move, the Asia Cup 2023 will be played in a Hybrid format, with Sri Lanka being the sole host country for all matches. Despite the change in plans, cricket enthusiasts can still witness the intense India-Pakistan rivalry, adding an extra layer of excitement to the tournament.

Following the nerve-wracking opener against Pakistan, the Men in Blue will take on Nepal at the same venue in Kandy on September 4. The outcome of these matches will decide which two teams progress to the next round, the Super 4.

Should Rohit Sharma’s side qualify for the Super 4 stage, their remaining matches will be held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. As the tournament’s format dictates, even if India secures the top spot in Group A, they will still be designated as A2. On the other hand, Pakistan will occupy the A1 spot if they qualify. However, if Nepal manages to advance from the group, they will replace either India or Pakistan based on their position in the table.

The Super 4 stage promises even more adrenaline-pumping cricket, with India scheduled to meet their arch-rivals Pakistan once again on September 10 in Colombo. This crucial encounter will be followed by matches against the top two teams from Group B, featuring Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, provided India successfully progresses from the first round.

Group B’s fate is also intertwined with intriguing possibilities. Regardless of their positions after the first-round group stage, Sri Lanka will be designated as B1, and Bangladesh will take the B2 spot if they both qualify for the Super 4. However, if Afghanistan outperforms them, they will replace the team with the poorest performance in Group B.
