India is set to take on South Africa in the final of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 on Sunday, aiming to defend their title and make history as the first team to win the tournament undefeated. The highly anticipated match will take place at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at 12:00 PM IST.

Having won the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2023 by defeating England by seven wickets, India now stands on the brink of back-to-back titles. South Africa, on the other hand, will be playing their first-ever U19 Women’s T20 World Cup final after being knocked out in the group stage of the previous edition. The winner of the final will secure a historic undefeated campaign.

India, led by captain Niki Prasad, has had a dominant run in the tournament. They secured convincing group-stage victories against Sri Lanka, West Indies, and hosts Malaysia before moving into the Super Six, where they overcame Bangladesh and Scotland. Their semi-final triumph against England sealed their place in the title match.

The Indian team has been powered by the outstanding performances of opener Gongadi Trisha, who is the tournament’s top scorer with 265 runs in six matches at an average of 66.25 and a strike rate of 149.71. She created history in the Super Six match against Scotland, becoming the first player to score a century (110* off 59 balls) in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. India’s bowling attack has been equally impressive, with Vaishnavi Sharma leading the charts as the tournament’s top wicket-taker. She has claimed 15 wickets so far, including a hat-trick against Malaysia in the group stage, marking India’s first-ever hat-trick in the competition.

South Africa, under the leadership of Kayla Reyneke, has also had an impressive campaign. They emerged victorious in group-stage matches against Nigeria, New Zealand, and Samoa before moving to the Super Six, where they defeated Ireland. Their other match against the USA was abandoned. In the semi-finals, South Africa overcame Australia by five wickets to reach their first-ever final.

For South Africa, Jemma Botha and Simone Lourens have been the standout batters, scoring 89 and 71 runs, respectively. Their captain, Kayla Reyneke, has been the team’s leading wicket-taker with 10 wickets in the tournament.

The head-to-head record between the two teams favors India, who have won four of their last five encounters against South Africa’s U19 side, with one match being abandoned. With history and momentum on their side, India will look to assert their dominance, while South Africa will aim to pull off an upset and claim their first U19 Women’s T20 World Cup title.
