India vs West Indies ODI Schedule, Squads and Players Update

Indian cricket fans have their eyes set on the highly anticipated One Day International (ODI) series between India and West Indies starting from Thursday July 27 at Kensington Oval, Barbados. Both teams have announced their ODI squads where Rohit Sharma will lead Team India and Shai Hope will lead West Indies team.

There is also added excitement as two of India’s batting maestros, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, are on the verge of achieving significant personal milestones in the first ODI match.

Virat Kohli, often regarded as one of the modern-day greats of cricket, is just 102 runs away from reaching the remarkable feat of 13,000 runs in the one-day format. With this milestone, he would join the elite league of only three other legends – Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting – as the fourth-highest run-scorer in ODI cricket history.

The Indian run machine has displayed exceptional consistency throughout his ODI career, amassing 12,898 runs in 274 matches at an impressive average of 57.32. Notably, he has registered a staggering 46 centuries and 65 half-centuries in this format, showcasing his ability to convert starts into big scores.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma, the limited-overs vice-captain of the Indian team, is eyeing the 10,000-run mark in ODIs. He currently stands at 9,825 runs and is eager to add another feather to his illustrious cap by becoming the sixth Indian player to reach this milestone.

Rohit boasts an impressive ODI average of 48.63, demonstrating his consistency and reliability as an opening batsman. In his 243 ODI appearances, he has notched up an impressive tally of 30 centuries and 48 half-centuries, making him one of the most dominant and dependable batsmen in the limited-overs format.

The ODI series comes on the heels of India’s recent victory in the Test series against the West Indies, where they secured a 1-0 win. However, the final day of the second Test in Port of Spain was washed out by rain, leading to a draw.

India’s ODI squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohd.
