Indian cricket fans have every reason to be excited as the Men in Blue gear up for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup. The team, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, is brimming with confidence and determination to give their all in this marquee tournament.

Despite their recent impressive performances in the ODI format, Rohit Sharma believes that hosting the tournament may just be the luck factor that propels them to victory. In the last 13 years, the host nation has lifted the World Cup, and this tradition began in 2011 when the Indian team, captained by MS Dhoni, clinched the coveted title.

While addressing the media at the World Cup 2023 Captain’s Day event, Rohit Sharma shared his thoughts on the tournament. “Not thinking too much about that stuff, but yeah, in the last 3 editions, hosting teams won the World Cups, and we will give our everything in this World Cup and enjoy the tournament,” he stated.

Rohit Sharma is well aware of the immense cricketing passion in India, emphasizing that people are going to love this tournament. He predicted jam-packed stadiums and highlighted the deep-rooted love for cricket in the country.

Addressing the issue of limited preparation time due to weather-related disruptions in the warm-up games, Rohit Sharma remained unfazed. He pointed out that they have played a decent amount of ODI cricket before the tournament, providing them with a good sense of where they stand. Despite the desire to play the warm-up matches, he acknowledged that weather conditions are beyond their control.

The experienced captain also shared insights into his role as a leader, stressing the importance of understanding teammates’ strengths and weaknesses and giving them the freedom to perform to the best of their abilities. According to Rohit, the team’s responsibility is to create a platform for the players and then allow them to excel in their respective roles.

India’s World Cup campaign will kick off with a highly anticipated match against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
