India’s Clinical Bowling Restricts Bangladesh to 256/8 in World Cup Clash

India’s clinical bowling performance neutralized Bangladesh’s explosive start, limiting them to a total of 256/8 in the ongoing World Cup match on Thursday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Bangladesh’s openers, Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das, made a formidable start, dominating the powerplay with well-timed shots that found the boundaries on a batsman-friendly pitch. In the first 14 overs, they amassed an impressive score of 90-0, maintaining a healthy run rate. However, the game’s dynamics changed dramatically after the drinks break when India’s bowlers came into their own.

Before Bangladesh’s downfall began, India suffered a setback as all-rounder Hardik Pandya sustained an injury and had to leave the field. Pandya, who was bowling his first over of the game in the ninth over, was punished for two consecutive fours by Litton Das in the second and third deliveries. In an attempt to stop the second boundary, Pandya used his right leg but slipped and twisted his ankle, forcing him to exit the match.

Kuldeep Yadav took over the bowling duties, and on the fourth ball of his over, he dismissed Tanzid Hasan for a well-made 51. A cleverly delivered flipper deceived Hasan, who attempted a sweep but missed the line, resulting in the ball striking his pads right in front of the stumps.

Najmul Hossain Shanto joined the fray to stabilize Bangladesh’s innings. However, their partnership was short-lived, as Ravindra Jadeja got the better of Shanto, sending him back to the pavilion for just 8 runs.

The Indian bowlers continued to apply pressure, with Mohammed Siraj claiming the wicket of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, thanks to a stunning catch by KL Rahul behind the stumps, highlighting India’s prowess in the field.

Jadeja returned to the attack and secured his second wicket by removing the set batsman, Litton Das, for 66 runs.

Over the next 10 overs, Towhid Hridoy and Mushfiqur Rahim attempted to stabilize Bangladesh’s innings. However, Shardul Thakur ended their promising partnership by dismissing Hridoy for 16, who had been struggling for rhythm.

Jasprit Bumrah then delivered a crucial blow by dismissing Mushfiqur Rahim (38) with a moment of brilliance in the field, as Jadeja took an unbelievable catch.

With the innings entering its final stages, Mahmudullah took on Shardul Thakur in the 46th over, claiming 15 runs and pushing Bangladesh’s total towards the 260-run mark. However, in the final over, Bumrah’s pinpoint yorker ended Mahmudullah’s stay on the pitch as he departed with a score of 46.

Shoriful Islam managed to strike a six on the last ball, taking Bangladesh’s final total to 256.
