Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) face early setbacks as Australian players Josh Hazlewood and Glenn Maxwell are reportedly doubtful for the team’s opening match, according to cricket.com.au report.

RCB will kick off their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 campaign against Mumbai Indians (MI) at their home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, on April 2nd.
Hazlewood is expected to miss the initial phase of the IPL as he recovers from an Achilles issue that sidelined him during the India Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Before joining the IPL, the 32-year-old RCB pacer will consult with Cricket Australia’s medical staff.
Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell, who sat out Australia’s final two ODIs against India earlier this month, is still recuperating from a leg injury, putting his availability for RCB’s first game in question.
National selector George Bailey revealed that Maxwell, who suffered a leg injury in a tragic accident at a friend’s birthday party last November, found returning to ODI cricket more challenging than anticipated.
It is understood that Maxwell has been working diligently on strength and conditioning at the gym with RCB, aiming to be fit for their opening match against Mumbai Indians on Sunday night.
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is set to make his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians.
Last season, RCB reached the playoffs but were defeated by Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier, losing by seven wickets.
