Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has praised Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, suggesting he could go down as the “best fast bowler of all time.” Speaking on The Grade Cricketer podcast, Maxwell highlighted Bumrah’s unique action and versatility, calling him “the complete package” for his ability to move the ball both ways, bowl with pace, and deliver unplayable slower balls.
“Bumrah might not be judged solely by the number of wickets he takes but by the difficulty batters face when playing him. His action and skills are extraordinary, and he can rush you with pace or beat you on both edges,” Maxwell said.

Bumrah’s exceptional performance in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Perth solidified his stature. Leading the team as captain, he picked up eight wickets, including a first-innings five-wicket haul, guiding India to a massive 295-run win. His efforts earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award and propelled him back to the top of the ICC Test Bowler Rankings.
In just 41 Tests, Bumrah has taken 181 wickets at an impressive average of 20.06, with best figures of 6/27 and 11 five-wicket hauls. His dominance in Australia is particularly noteworthy, with 40 wickets at an average of 18.80, including two five-wicket hauls. His away record is equally formidable, with 134 wickets at an average of 20.38, and he holds the record for the most five-wicket hauls (seven) by an Indian bowler in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia).
Bumrah’s international career has been a story of consistency across all formats. In 200 matches, he has taken 419 wickets at an average of 20.80, including 13 five-wicket hauls. His ICC tournament record is equally stellar, with 38 wickets in 20 ODI World Cup games and a standout performance in India’s victorious ICC T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year. In that tournament, Bumrah took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 with an economy rate of 4.17, earning the ‘Player of the Tournament’ title.
