Bumrah had an exceptional 2023-24 season, delivering match-winning spells across formats. His 15 wickets played a crucial role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph, helping the team secure the title after 17 years. His impact was so significant that he was named Player of the Tournament. In Test cricket, Bumrah finished 2024 as the leading wicket-taker with 71 wickets in 13 matches, a record surpassed only by Kapil Dev for most wickets taken by an Indian bowler in a single calendar year.

Bumrah is expected to lead India’s bowling attack in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which is set to begin on February 19. However, he is currently recovering from a back issue and may miss the upcoming home ODI series against England, scheduled to start on February 6. Despite this setback, his contributions over the past year have made him a standout performer in international cricket, reaffirming his reputation as one of the finest bowlers of his generation.
