India women’s batter Jemimah Rodrigues has reiterated her willingness to bat at any position in the lineup as the team continues to test different combinations ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
With the global tournament approaching, India are using their ongoing T20I series against England as an opportunity to fine-tune their strongest playing XI and explore various tactical options. One of the key elements of this strategy has been Rodrigues’ flexibility in the batting order.

The 25-year-old had primarily occupied the No. 3 position earlier this year against strong opponents such as Australia and South Africa. However, during the ongoing England series, she has been moved down the order to No. 4 and No. 5 in the first two matches. Rodrigues said she is comfortable with the changes as long as she clearly understands her responsibilities.
“I think I’m comfortable at all positions. In the end, it is important for me to have clarity. And when I have clarity about a certain role, I know I can go out there and deliver. Now is the time where we have few more games to experiment about what’s the best combination that’s working for the team,” said Rodrigues, as quoted by the ICC.
The batting-order adjustments have also allowed wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia to get valuable time in the middle. Bhatia recently returned to the national side after spending nearly two years away due to injury and has quickly made an impact.
Rodrigues praised her teammate’s determination and resilience, highlighting Bhatia’s impressive half-century in her comeback game.
“Yastika was not with us lately because of her injury. So this is the only game time that she’s also getting. For us to have her here is a great advantage. We saw what she did in the first game, the way she batted. To come out after injury and do such a thing, it takes a lot of character,” said Rodrigues.
Bhatia’s successful return has strengthened India’s batting resources and provided the team management with additional options as they prepare for the World Cup. Rodrigues believes the squad’s mindset is focused on continuous improvement and adding more depth to the batting unit.
“I’m very happy with the way she’s going and very happy with the fact that, we are still willing to add a little more in batting. And that’s the kind of mindset we have. And that’s the mindset we are going towards,” Rodrigues added.
India began the England series with a convincing 38-run victory before suffering a 26-run defeat in the second T20I, leaving the contest level. The Women in Blue will now take on England in the series-deciding third T20I at Taunton on Tuesday, where both teams will look to gain momentum ahead of future international assignments and the T20 World Cup preparations.
