KKR Batter Venkatesh Iyer Ties the Knot with Shruti Raghunathan

In a heartwarming ceremony, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star batter Venkatesh Iyer tied the knot with Shruti Raghunathan on Sunday, surrounded by family and friends. The couple, who got engaged in November 2023, celebrated their union with an intimate gathering, marking a joyous milestone in their lives.

KKR extended their heartfelt congratulations to the newlyweds through their official social media handle. The message read, “Congratulations Venkatesh & Shruti, you’re winning in life,” capturing the sentiment of the occasion and the happiness of the KKR family.

Venkatesh Iyer has been a vital asset for KKR, demonstrating exceptional form in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the recently concluded IPL season, Iyer’s performance was instrumental in KKR’s successes. In the final match, he scored an unbeaten 52 off 26 balls, featuring four boundaries and three sixes, at a strike rate of 200.00. His explosive innings ensured KKR’s easy chase of 114 runs, achieving victory within the first half of the innings.

Iyer’s contributions have been particularly notable in the IPL playoffs. His track record includes impressive performances in critical knockout matches. During the 2021 eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Iyer scored 26 runs off 30 balls, aiding KKR’s win. He continued his form in the qualifier second against Delhi Capitals (DC) and the final against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), scoring 55 off 41 balls and 50 off 32 balls, respectively, although KKR fell short against CSK in the final by 27 runs.

In total, Iyer has amassed 232 runs in five knockout stage matches, averaging 77.33 with four fifties. His highest score in these stages is 55. He stands out for his remarkable consistency, achieving four successive fifty-plus scores in IPL playoffs/knockouts, surpassing the previous record held by Lendl Simmons of Mumbai Indians (MI). Only Suresh Raina of CSK has more fifty-plus scores (seven) in IPL knockout stages.

In the 2024 IPL season, Iyer continued to shine, scoring 370 runs in 13 innings at an average of 46.25 and a strike rate of over 158. His performances included four half-centuries, with a top score of 70, solidifying his reputation as a reliable and explosive batter.
