Pakistan Cricket Team’s former coach Mickey Arthur is set to rejoin the team as a consultant. Currently the head coach of Derbyshire County, Arthur expressed his excitement at the opportunity to work with both Derbyshire and the Pakistan team, both of which are close to his heart. While he had signed a four-year deal with Derbyshire, he revealed that he will still work for Pakistan as well and will visit the country next month to join the camp one month before the World Cup.

Arthur, who previously coached the Pakistan team from 2016 to 2019, pointed out that current senior players on the team were groomed during his first tenure. Though he would not be physically present for any bilateral series, he will remain in contact with the coaches and players and will provide suggestions for coaches recommended by him.

However, Arthur acknowledged that it would be a challenge for him as the players he previously groomed may now have grown egos. Nonetheless, he will lead the coaching staff of Pakistan cricket team and all affairs in this regard have been settled. An official announcement regarding this will be made later.

Arthur has previously acted as head coach, leading Pakistan to victory in the Champions Trophy. The new coaching staff for the Pakistan cricket team is set to be finalized next week. In addition to Arthur, Grant Bradburn will also have an important assignment within the coaching staff, with a possibility of being made head coach. South African fast bowler Morne Morkel and Andrew Puttick could be given bowling and batting coach assignments, respectively.

Morkel has vast experience in playing 86 tests, 117 ODIs, and 44 T20 matches, while Puttick has played only one test match. Bradburn, a right arm off-break player from New Zealand, has been the fielding coach for Pakistan. Meanwhile, Cliffe Deacon will remain as the team’s strength and conditioning coach.

With an experienced coaching staff and Arthur’s return, Pakistan’s cricket team is expected to be well-prepared for upcoming series against New Zealand.
