Mohammed Siraj Regains Top Spot in ICC ODI Bowling Rankings after Top Figures

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has soared to the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings after a breathtaking performance in the Asia Cup. Siraj’s stunning spell during the final of the tournament, which dismissed Sri Lanka for a mere 50 runs, propelled him back to the coveted number one position.

With an extraordinary Asia Cup-winning performance that featured figures of 6/21, Siraj has reclaimed the No. 1 spot he last held in March 2023, temporarily ceding it to Josh Hazlewood earlier this year.

Finishing the Asia Cup with 10 wickets at an impressive average of 12.2, Siraj’s remarkable comeback has seen him leapfrog renowned bowlers such as Josh Hazlewood, Trent Boult, Rashid Khan, and Mitchell Starc in the bowling rankings.

Notably, the Afghan spin duo of Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan has also made significant strides, securing the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively, within the top 10 rankings.

Outside the top 10, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has witnessed a meteoric rise after returning from an injury. His instrumental role in helping the Proteas secure a historic victory, becoming only the fifth side to win a five-match ODI series after losing the first two games, has boosted his rankings.

Maharaj’s remarkable performance, highlighted by his figures of 4-33 in the fifth ODI, has earned him eight wickets in the series at an average of 16.87 and an economy rate of just 4.07 per over. Consequently, he currently holds the 15th position in the rankings, marking a ten-place improvement from his previous career-high.

The MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings have also witnessed substantial changes, reflecting outstanding individual performances. South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen left an indelible mark with a record-breaking ODI innings against Australia in the fourth ODI.

Klaasen’s extraordinary knock of 174 at a staggering strike rate of 209.64 in Centurion contributed to South Africa’s resounding 164-run victory and propelled him 20 places up the Men’s ODI Batting Rankings to the ninth position.

Meanwhile, England’s Dawid Malan proved to be a dynamic force in the ODI series against New Zealand, emerging as the top run-scorer with 277 runs at an astonishing average of 92.33 and a formidable strike rate of 105.72. This stellar performance has propelled Malan to a career-best 13th position in the ODI Rankings.

Lastly, Ben Stokes, Malan’s compatriot, marked his ODI comeback with a sensational innings of 182 at The Oval. His remarkable display has earned him the 36th position in the ODI Batting Rankings.
