Mumbai Indians get MI New York franchise in Major League Cricket

Reliance Industries Limited-owned Mumbai Indians announced the addition of a fifth cricket franchise, MI New York, to their growing MI #OneFamily on Sunday.

Based in New York, the team is set to participate in the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket (MLC), subject to completion of due diligence, negotiation, execution of definitive binding agreements, and receipt of required approvals and compliances.

Nita M. Ambani expressed her excitement in welcoming the New York franchise to the MI Family, hoping to establish Mumbai Indians as a global brand of fearless and entertaining cricket. She anticipates the exciting journey ahead for MI, as mentioned in a press release.

Committed to promoting cricket globally, the MI #OneFamily has franchises in three continents, four countries, and five different leagues, including Mumbai Indians (IPL), MI Cape Town (SA20), MI Emirates (ILT20), and Mumbai Indians (WPL).

With nearly 50 million digital fans worldwide, Mumbai Indians have grown in 99% brand value (Brand Finance) since 2009, attracting global brands as partners.

Major League Cricket, the first professional Twenty20 cricket championship in the United States, is set to launch its inaugural season in the summer of 2023 starting from July 13.
