Mumbai Indians Playing XI: Arjun Tendulkar to make his IPL debut in absence of Jasprit Bumrah

Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, is speculated to make his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians during the 2023 season, in the absence of the injured Jasprit Bumrah.

The 23-year-old left-hand batter and left-arm medium-fast bowler is currently recovering from an injury and can be part of Mumbai Indians Playing XI as soon as he is available for selection.

Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher commented on the possibility of Arjun’s debut, stating, “Arjun is coming back from an injury and he has played a lot of cricket over the last six months. When he is available for selection, it will be good for us.”

“We have been talking about Bumrah. He is a big miss. Jasprit Bumrah’s role was quite important for Mumbai Indians, it’s a big shoe to fill. But it gives someone else an opportunity for the youngsters in the team to showcase their talent. We have a couple of guys who have been with this team for the last few years. They are very much ready to take the centre stage and hopefully can blood in some youngsters,” he added.

Boucher also acknowledged Bumrah’s absence as a significant loss but noted that it provides an opportunity for young players like Arjun to showcase their talent.

“Arjun is coming back from a injury and he has played a lot of cricket over the last six months. When he is available for selection it will be good for us,” Boucher said.

Having been part of the Mumbai team, as well as Mumbai under-14s, under-16s, and under-19s teams in the past, Arjun Tendulkar is expected to be part of Mumbai Indians’ strongest playing XI for IPL 2023.

Mumbai Indians will play their IPL opener match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday April 2 at Bengaluru. The match is also first match of 2023 IPL campaign for RCB under the captaincy of Faf du Plessis.
