Nitish Rana Crosses 3000 IPL Runs With Explosive 91 Against PBKS

Nitish Rana reached a major milestone in his IPL career by completing 3,000 runs during a stunning knock for Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings in IPL 2026. The left-hander achieved the feat in style with a blistering innings that also turned out to be his highest score in the tournament.

Rana smashed 91 runs off just 44 balls, striking 11 boundaries and four sixes. Coming into the match with 2,930 runs, he crossed the 3,000-run mark during his innings and now has 3,021 runs in the IPL at an average of 28.23.

His remarkable knock played a crucial role in Delhi Capitals posting a massive total of 264/2 in 20 overs, the highest team score recorded so far in IPL 2026. Rana also shared a historic 220-run partnership with KL Rahul, which now stands as the second-highest partnership for any wicket in IPL history. The only stand ahead of it remains the 229-run partnership between AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli against Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016.

Delhi Capitals’ innings was headlined by a dominant batting display led by KL Rahul, who remained unbeaten on 152 off 67 balls. The innings began on a cautious note after Punjab Kings dismissed Pathum Nissanka early, but a dropped catch of Rahul by Shashank Singh proved to be a turning point.

Rahul capitalised fully on the opportunity, reaching his century in just 47 balls, marking his sixth IPL hundred. Rana complemented him perfectly with aggressive stroke play, including a 28-run over against Xavier Bartlett that shifted momentum decisively in Delhi’s favour.

The duo kept the scoring rate consistently high, dismantling the Punjab bowling attack through the middle overs. Despite attempts from Arshdeep Singh, Marcus Stoinis, and Yuzvendra Chahal to contain the flow of runs, Delhi Capitals surged past the 200-run mark in just 16 overs.

Rana was eventually dismissed late in the innings, but the damage had already been done. Delhi Capitals maintained their momentum in the final stages, adding nine runs in the last over to finish with a commanding total.

Punjab Kings’ bowlers struggled throughout the innings, with only Arshdeep Singh and Xavier Bartlett managing to pick up wickets in what was largely a one-sided batting performance dominated by Rahul and Rana.
