The announcement was made by Prasar Bharati CEO, Gaurav Dwivedi, during a media interaction in New Delhi. During the event, a special anthem for the T20 World Cup, titled ‘Jazba’ and sung by Sukhwinder Singh, was launched. The anthem was unveiled by Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Sanjay Jaju, along with Prasar Bharati Chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal, DG, Doordarshan, Kanchan Prasad, and Gaurav Dwivedi. Additionally, a promotional video for the T20 World Cup narrated by renowned storyteller Neelesh Misra was also launched.

Prasar Bharati is actively negotiating with various sports bodies and agencies to secure broadcast rights for a variety of sports leagues and properties on its sports channel. “We will be updating the media as and when we firm up these partnerships,” Dwivedi said. He also mentioned the extensive preparations by Doordarshan and All India Radio for the upcoming counting process on Tuesday.

Last year, DD Sports produced and broadcast several multi-sporting events across the country, including the Khelo India University Games in the North East, the Khelo India Youth Games in Tamil Nadu, the National Games in Goa, the inaugural Khelo India Para Games in New Delhi, and the Khelo India Winter Games in Gulmarg and Leh. These events were not only aired on DD Sports but also shared with major private channels like Star Sports, Jio Cinema, and Sony Network.

Doordarshan’s team produced the world feed for the cricket matches of the Hangzhou Asian Games in China, covering both men’s and women’s matches. This feed was broadcast in multiple countries across Asia. Doordarshan also held linear television rights for all platforms for the Indian Cricket Team’s tour of the West Indies in August 2023, providing commentary in English, Hindi, and regional languages such as Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Kannada.

Additionally, Doordarshan has formed partnerships with leading global sports bodies like the NBA and PGTA to showcase their content on DD Sports. Notably, NBA’s popular e-sports property, the NBA 2K League matches, are also broadcast on DD Sports.
