The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and New Zealand Cricket Board have announced changes to the schedule for the upcoming series between Pakistan and New Zealand due to elections in Punjab. The T20 series will now start in Lahore on April 14, with the second and third ODIs taking place at Qaddafi Stadium on April 15 and 17, respectively. The fourth and fifth T20 matches will be held in Rawalpindi on April 20 and 24.

The ODI series will begin in Rawalpindi, with the second, third, fourth, and fifth ODIs being played at Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Arena on April 30, May 3, May 5, and May 7, respectively. Initially, the T20 series was set to be played between April 13 and 23, but the revised dates now have the opening T20I on April 14 and the final match on April 24.
New Zealand had previously visited Pakistan to play two Test matches and three ODI matches in December-January. The Test series resulted in a 0-0 draw, while the Kiwis won the ODI series 2-1. Although the upcoming ODIs will not be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, they will help both teams prepare for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 later this year.
“This is an additional tour by the New Zealand cricket team and the matches will count towards ICC Team Rankings,” the PCB release stated.
“The ODIs will help Pakistan to prepare their side for the ACC Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, while the T20I will assist the PCB to continue with their rebuilding of the side for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the USA and West Indies in June/July 2024.”
