Rishabh Pant, the star wicketkeeper-batter, has penned an emotional farewell note to Delhi Capitals (DC) after being signed by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a record-breaking Rs 27 crores at the IPL 2025 mega-auction. This move makes Pant the most expensive player in IPL history, surpassing Shreyas Iyer’s Rs 26.75 crore deal with Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mitchell Starc’s Rs 24.75 crore bid earlier in the auction.
Taking to social media, Pant shared his heartfelt gratitude to Delhi Capitals, the franchise he represented for nine years since joining as a teenager.

“Goodbyes are never easy. The journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of amazing. From the thrills on the field to the moments off it, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. I came here as a teenager and grew together over the last nine years,” Pant wrote.
He also thanked the fans who supported him through his highs and lows, adding, “What made this journey all worthwhile is you, the fans. You embraced me, cheered for me, and stood by me during one of the toughest phases of my life. As I move on, I carry your love and support in my heart. I’ll look forward to entertaining you whenever I take the field. Thank you for being my family and making this journey so special.”
Pant leaves Delhi Capitals as their leading run-scorer, having amassed 3,284 runs in 111 matches at a strike rate of 148.93, including a century and 17 half-centuries. His best score, an unbeaten 128, remains one of IPL’s finest innings. As captain, he led DC to the playoffs in 2021, but the team fell short of qualifying beyond the league stages in 2022 and 2024.
