Newly appointed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant is brimming with confidence about his team’s explosive batting lineup ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Pant shared insights into the strong camaraderie he shares with teammate Nicholas Pooran and expressed excitement about the destructive potential of LSG’s middle order, which also features South African finisher David Miller.
Pant and Pooran’s bond extends beyond the cricket field, with the West Indies star offering support during Pant’s recovery from a life-threatening accident in December 2022. Speaking on Star Sports, Pant said, “Pooran is my close friend; we share an old relationship. During my injury, he would check on me, asking if I was doing fine. That relationship is always there.”

LSG boasts an intimidating middle order featuring Pant, Pooran, and Miller, all known for their ability to dismantle bowling attacks. Pant was full of praise for Miller’s experience, stating, “Miller has been phenomenal, especially over the last five years, with his ability to finish games. If you have all three of us, it’s definitely going to be destructive. Hamari team mein saare tabahi player hai bhai (In our team, all players are destructive).”
The trio’s track record makes them a formidable force for high-scoring matches, with LSG poised to produce run-fests in the upcoming season.
Pant marked his return to competitive cricket in IPL 2024 with an impressive 446 runs in 13 matches, averaging 40.55. His performance earned him a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad, where he played a key role in securing the title against Miller’s South Africa.
Pooran was a standout performer for LSG last season, smashing 499 runs at an extraordinary average of 62.38 and a strike rate of 178.21. His ability to dominate bowling attacks makes him a vital asset for the team.
Miller, representing Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024, contributed 210 runs in nine matches at an average of 35.00, with a strike rate of 151.08. His experience and finishing ability further bolster LSG’s batting strength.
