The T20 Mumbai League 2026 got off to a memorable start at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, with Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma adding glamour and excitement to the opening day of the tournament.

As the face of the league, Rohit attended the toss of the second match between Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs. His presence generated significant enthusiasm among players and fans as the league returned with another season of competitive domestic T20 cricket.

Rohit was joined by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Ajinkya Naik and Rajdip Gupta, Chairman of the League Governing Council. Members of the MCA Apex Council and the League Governing Council were also present during the occasion.

The opening day also showcased the depth of cricketing talent in Mumbai, with players producing impressive performances in the tournament opener. Eagle Thane Strikers delivered a commanding display to defeat Bandra Blasters by nine wickets, powered by a sensational unbeaten century from Shashwat Jagtap.

The successful start has raised expectations for another exciting season of the T20 Mumbai League, which continues to provide a platform for emerging cricketers to showcase their skills. The league is set to make further history on Tuesday with the launch of the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women’s League.

The first women’s match will see SOBO Mumbai Falcons face Thane Sky Risers, marking a new chapter in Mumbai’s cricketing landscape and further expanding opportunities for players across the city.
