Rohit Sharma and Ritika Sajdeh Name Newborn Son ‘Ahaan’ in Festive Christmas Post

Ritika Sajdeh, wife of Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, revealed the name of their newborn son, Ahaan, in a festive Christmas-themed Instagram post on Sunday. The heartwarming post featured a family cutout, with each member depicted in winter attire. The cutout introduced the family as “Ro” for Rohit, “Rits” for Ritika, “Sammy” for their daughter Samaira, and “Ahaan” for their newest addition.

The announcement follows Rohit’s subtle hint last month about the birth of their second child. On November 15, Rohit shared a post referencing the iconic sitcom Friends, captioned “15.11.2024,” with the phrase, “The FAMILY, the one where we are four.” Samaira, the couple’s first child, was born in 2018.

Rohit missed the Indian team’s departure to Perth for the Border-Gavaskar series opener due to Ahaan’s birth. Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah led the team in his absence, securing a dominant 295-run victory against Australia in Perth. Rohit later rejoined the squad for a rain-shortened pink-ball warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra, where he batted at number four, scoring three runs off 11 balls.

Rohit will return to his usual opening position in the first Test of the pink-ball day-night series in Adelaide, starting December 6. The series is crucial for India as they aim to solidify their spot in the ICC World Test Championship final.

Despite a challenging year in Tests, Rohit remains a key figure in India’s lineup. In 2023, he scored 588 runs in 11 Tests at an average of 29.40, with two centuries and two fifties. During the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle, he has accumulated 833 runs in 14 Tests at an average of 33.32, including three centuries and four fifties.
