Rohit Sharma’s Confidence High with Shami, Bumrah, and Siraj Bowling Attack Ahead of IND vs PAK Match in Asia Cup

Set to face Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2023 opener at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Rohit Sharma addressed reporters’ questions about the looming clash. “The rivalry is there for people to talk about,” Rohit remarked, “As a team, what we see is we have an opposition to play tomorrow and see what we want to do. What is going to help us is to keep doing the right things on the field.”

With Pakistan’s recent ascent to the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings, Rohit acknowledged their impressive form in both T20Is and ODIs. He anticipated a challenging match against Pakistan, who have shown determination and hard work to attain their current standing.

While discussing the potential for an India-Pakistan clash in the final, Rohit expressed hope that the two arch-rivals would meet again in the tournament’s ultimate showdown, underscoring the thrill and excitement such a match would bring.

Turning his attention to the team’s bowling, Rohit highlighted the good form of all six bowlers, especially the return of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. He noted Bumrah’s solid performances in recent outings and training sessions, expressing confidence in the bowling unit’s capabilities.

In response to the formidable Pakistan pace attack, Rohit stressed the importance of relying on experience to counter the challenges posed by the trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah. He emphasized that the team practices with the resources they have and would utilize their expertise to face the formidable Pakistan attack.

Rohit also addressed the role of the toss, reminding everyone that winning the toss does not guarantee a victory. He affirmed the team’s commitment to focus on the present match while looking ahead to address any issues and deliver consistent performances throughout the tournament.
