Ayub’s explosive 53-ball ton not only showcased his immense talent but also helped Pakistan level the three-match series 1-1, setting up a thrilling decider on Thursday.
The 22-year-old left-hander smashed 17 fours and three towering sixes during his unbeaten knock of 113, finishing the chase in style alongside Abdullah Shafique (32*). Pakistan effortlessly overhauled Zimbabwe’s modest total of 145 in under 19 overs, securing a comprehensive victory.

Ayub’s century matched Afridi’s 53-ball blitz against Bangladesh in 2010. Afridi remains the holder of the two fastest ODI centuries for Pakistan, achieving the milestones in just 37 balls against Sri Lanka in 1996 and 45 deliveries against India in 2005.
The foundation of Pakistan’s victory was laid by a disciplined bowling effort. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 145 in just 32.3 overs, with Dion Myers (33 off 30) and Sean Williams (31 off 39) being the only players to cross 20 runs.
Spinner Abrar Ahmed was the standout bowler for Pakistan, claiming 4/33. Salman Agha provided excellent support with figures of 3/26, while Saim Ayub and Faisal Akram chipped in with a wicket each.
With the series now level, Pakistan and Zimbabwe will face off in the decider on Thursday.
