Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a four-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in an IPL 2023 match in Jaipur, thanks to top performances from Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi, as well as explosive cameos from Glenn Phillips and Abdul Samad. This victory lifts SRH to ninth place with four wins and six losses, totaling eight points, while RR remains in fourth place with five wins, six losses, and ten points.

Abhishek Sharma’s 55 off 34 balls and Glenn Phillips’s game-changing 25 off seven balls contributed to SRH’s most significant win of the season. Yuzvendra Chahal was RR’s standout bowler, taking four wickets for 29 runs, while Kuldip Yadav and R Ashwin each claimed one wicket.

After chasing the highest target in Jaipur, SRH lost their first wicket in the final over of the powerplay at 51/1. Sharma and Tripathi then built a 50-run partnership in 36 balls, reaching 100 runs for SRH in 11.3 overs. After Sharma’s dismissal, Heinrich Klaasen added 26 runs off 12 balls before falling to Chahal. Chahal continued to trouble SRH by claiming two more wickets, becoming the joint-highest wicket-taker in the league’s history.

However, Glenn Phillips turned the game around in the penultimate over, hitting three sixes and a four before being dismissed. In the final over, SRH required 17 runs to win. Abdul Samad was initially caught on the last ball, seemingly giving RR the win, but the delivery was deemed a no-ball, allowing Samad to hit a match-winning six.

Earlier, RR’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler opened with a 50-run partnership in 26 balls. Marco Jansen provided a breakthrough for SRH, dismissing Jaiswal for 35 runs. RR reached 100 runs in 9.4 overs, with Buttler and Sanju Samson forming a formidable partnership. Both batsmen achieved their half-centuries, with RR reaching 150 runs in 14.2 overs. Buttler was eventually dismissed for 95 runs, falling short of a century. In the end, RR posted the highest target in Jaipur, with Chahal, Yadav, and Ashwin taking wickets for the team.
