Stafanie Taylor to miss West Indies tour of India; Deandra Dottin returns

West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor will not be part of the upcoming white-ball series against India as she continues to recover from an injury. Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed her absence in an official press release, stating that Taylor is undergoing rehabilitation and will miss the three-match T20I and ODI series.

In Taylor’s absence, the spotlight will be on Deandra Dottin, who recently returned to the national team after a two-year hiatus. Dottin made her comeback during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup held earlier this year in the UAE. Her return is expected to bolster the Caribbean side, which will be led by Hayley Matthews, with Shemaine Campbelle serving as vice-captain.

The tour begins in mid-December and runs until December 27, featuring three T20Is at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, followed by three ODIs in Baroda. The ODIs will be part of the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship, a crucial tournament for qualification to global events. The series marks the West Indies Women’s return to India after their last white-ball tour in 2016, where they dominated the T20Is 3-0 but faced a clean sweep in the ODIs.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a packed schedule for the Women in Blue. After the West Indies series, Team India will host Ireland for a three-match ODI series in Rajkot in January, also part of the ICC Women’s Championship.
