USPL: Shreyas Movva’s Late Blitz Secures Maryland Mavericks’ Spot in Final; Titans to Face Cowboys in Eliminator

Shreyas Movva’s stunning 10-ball cameo propelled the Maryland Mavericks to a dramatic 3-wicket victory over the New Jersey Titans, booking their spot in the United States Premier League (USPL) Season 3 final at Broward County Stadium, Florida. Movva’s match-winning knock of 26 runs earned him the Player of the Match award as the Mavericks chased down the target with one ball to spare.

Needing 26 runs off the last 13 balls, Movva stepped in and changed the game’s trajectory. A six off his first delivery reduced the pressure, and by the final over, the target was down to 16 runs. Movva hammered another six on the first ball of the final over, bringing the equation to seven runs from three balls. A six and a boundary on the next two deliveries sealed the thrilling win for the Mavericks.

Earlier, Maryland Mavericks won the toss and opted to bowl. The New Jersey Titans began strongly, with openers Sujith Gowda and Josh Cobb amassing 68 runs in the first seven overs. However, a double strike by Mavericks skipper Shubham Ranjane triggered a middle-order collapse, leaving the Titans at 134/5. Late contributions from Hammad Azam and Arjun Mahesh pushed the Titans to 175 in 20 overs.

In response, the Mavericks’ chase was steady but challenging. Despite a fiery start by Dwayne Smith (17 off 7 balls), the team slipped to 48/3. The New York Cowboys continued their resurgence, defeating the Carolina Eagles by 47 runs in the second semi-final. Despite being bowled out for 148 in 19.5 overs, the Cowboys’ top order delivered a strong foundation, with Mukhtar Ahmed (68 off 50) and Dilpreet Bajwa (35 off 17) leading the charge.

The Carolina Eagles crumbled under pressure during the chase, managing only 101 runs in 17.5 overs. Parveen Kumar’s three-wicket haul dismantled their batting lineup, earning him the Player of the Match award. The Cowboys, who started the tournament with three consecutive losses, have now secured back-to-back wins to stay in contention.

The New Jersey Titans will face the New York Cowboys in a high-stakes semi-final eliminator on Saturday to decide who will join the Maryland Mavericks in the grand finale on December 1.
