
Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi created history with a breathtaking performance, becoming the youngest and fastest batter to reach 1,000 runs in T20 cricket. The 15-year-old achieved the milestone during a stunning IPL 2026 innings that also marked his second century in the tournament.
Sooryavanshi smashed a sensational 103 off just 37 balls, hammering five fours and an incredible 12 sixes at a strike rate of 278.38. His explosive knock not only powered Rajasthan Royals to a massive total but also rewrote multiple records in T20 cricket.

He reached the 1,000-run mark in just 473 balls, making him the fastest in terms of balls faced. He surpassed Australian players Mitchell Owen (533 balls) and Andrew Symonds (558 balls) in this regard. In terms of innings, he got to the milestone in his 26th innings, making him the fourth-fastest overall, behind Brad Hodge and Shaun Marsh, who both achieved it in 23 innings.
At just 15 years of age, Sooryavanshi is also the youngest player ever to reach 1,000 T20 runs. Among the 1,069 players who have crossed this mark in T20 cricket, he stands out as the only batter with a strike rate above 200, currently at an astonishing 212.2.
The young star also became the first uncapped player in IPL history to score two centuries. His innings included a rapid half-century off just 15 balls, marking his third IPL fifty achieved in 15 balls or fewer. This feat puts him ahead of Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk, who had recorded two such quick fifties in the 2024 season.
With his 12 sixes in the innings, Sooryavanshi also broke a long-standing record, surpassing Murali Vijay’s 11 sixes against the same opposition in 2010.
In the ongoing IPL 2026 season, Sooryavanshi has been in outstanding form. In eight innings, he has scored 357 runs at an average of 44.62 and a remarkable strike rate of 234.86, including one century and two fifties. He currently holds the Orange Cap as the leading run-scorer in the tournament.
Coming to the match, Rajasthan Royals posted a formidable total of 229 runs. Sooryavanshi led the charge with his explosive century, while Dhruv Jurel provided solid support with 51 off 35 balls, including eight fours and a six. The duo stitched together a 112-run partnership, putting the opposition under immense pressure.
A late cameo from Donovan Ferreira, who scored 33 off 13 balls with three fours and three sixes, further boosted Rajasthan’s total.
Among the bowlers, Eshan Malinga was the most effective for the opposition, picking up two wickets for 38 runs. Pat Cummins, Praful Hinge, Sakib Hussain, and Nitish Kumar Reddy also picked up a wicket each, although Sakib endured a tough outing, conceding 62 runs in his spell.
Rajasthan Royals now face the challenge of defending 229 runs to secure their fifth win of the season, while their opponents will need a strong batting effort to chase down the big target.
