Venkatesh Prasad Backs India as Strong Contenders for Upcoming ICC ODI World Cup

Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has expressed his confidence in the Indian cricket team’s prospects at the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, set to kick off in India on October 5. Prasad, a former pacer known for his precision on the field, believes that India boasts a formidable squad but also stresses the importance of fan support in the team’s journey to World Cup glory.

In a recent statement, Prasad lauded the Indian team, calling them “strong contenders for the World Cup.” He emphasized the need for passionate fans inside the stadiums, asserting that their experience must be enhanced compared to previous editions of the tournament. Prasad also called upon the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to ensure that the fan experience is smooth and enjoyable.

“We have a good team and are strong contenders for the World Cup, but we need genuine fans inside the stadium cheering for the team, and their experience needs to be far smoother and easier than what it has been, and for that, the BCCI needs to do far better than they have done so far. It is a reflection of the country as a whole, and we as a nation should not be let down at any cost,” Prasad remarked in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
