Virat Kohli and KL Rahul register record-breaking partnership in Asia Cup history

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have registered the highest-ever partnership in Asia Cup tournament history during India’s face-off against arch-rival Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday.

This remarkable feat was achieved during a Super Four clash, where Rahul and Kohli unleashed a relentless assault on the Pakistani bowlers. Together, they forged an unbroken partnership worth a staggering 233 runs, facing 194 deliveries in the process. This partnership eclipsed the previous record held by Pakistan’s Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez, who had a 224-run partnership against India back in 2012.

The Indian pair commenced their innings cautiously before launching a spectacular assault on the opposition. Their combined efforts played a pivotal role in India’s formidable total of 356/2 against Babar Azam-led Pakistan.

Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill had laid a solid foundation for India with their respective half-centuries, but it was the unbeaten 233-run partnership between Kohli and Rahul that added the finishing touch to India’s innings. Kohli, showcasing his signature finesse, concluded his innings with an unbeaten 122 runs, a tally amassed from just 94 deliveries. Meanwhile, Rahul’s scintillating performance saw him smash a fiery 111 off 106 balls.
