Virat Kohli, the Indian cricketing legend known as the ‘Chase Master,’ is set to mark his 35th birthday today. Celebrated as one of the greatest to have ever wielded a cricket bat, Kohli’s journey from leading India to U19 World Cup victory in 2008 to becoming an iconic figure in international cricket has been nothing short of remarkable.

From his debut in 2008, Virat Kohli has consistently dominated headlines with his extraordinary run-scoring prowess, setting records, chasing runs, and single-handedly winning matches like few others in the history of the sport.

In Test cricket, Kohli’s credentials speak volumes. He has featured in 111 Tests, amassing 8,676 runs at an impressive average of 49.29, including 29 centuries and 29 fifties. He ranks as India’s fifth-highest scorer in Tests, with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar leading the chart with 15,921 runs.

Virat Kohli’s captaincy reign in Test cricket is equally illustrious, with 40 wins, 17 losses, and 11 draws in 68 games. Under his leadership, India secured five consecutive ICC World Test Championship maces and consistently ranked as the top-ranked side for five successive years.

His partnership with head coach Ravi Shastri and bowling coach Bharat Arun has fostered one of the most potent and fearsome Test pace attacks in history, featuring bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Siraj.

In the One Day International (ODI) format, Kohli’s records are nothing short of astonishing. With 13,525 runs in 288 ODIs at an average of 58.04, he boasts 48 centuries and 70 fifties. He currently stands as the fourth-highest run-scorer in ODI cricket and the second-highest for India, trailing only Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 18,426 runs.

Kohli’s reputation as the ‘Chase-Master’ in ODIs is well-deserved. In 159 matches while chasing, he has amassed 7,794 runs at a staggering average of 65.49, featuring 27 centuries and 40 fifties.

His performances during successful run-chases in ODIs are even more awe-inspiring, with 5,786 runs at an average of 90.40 in 102 matches, including 23 centuries and 25 fifties.

Leading the Indian team in ODIs, Kohli has secured victory in 65 out of 95 matches, illustrating his remarkable leadership qualities.

In T20Is, Kohli has scored 4,008 runs in 115 matches, boasting an average of 52.73. His prowess extends to the longest format, where he has scored 7,794 runs in 111 Tests.

Across all formats, Virat Kohli has played 514 international matches, accumulating 26,209 runs at an average of 54.03, featuring 78 centuries and 136 fifties.

Kohli’s impact extends to ICC events, where he has scored 3,000 runs in white-ball competitions. In Cricket World Cup matches, he has amassed 1,472 runs in 33 matches, with an average of 54.51, including three centuries.

The ‘Chase Master’ is also the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cups, with 1,141 runs in 27 matches at an astonishing average of 81.50.
