Chris Jordan Joins Mumbai Indians as Jofra Archer's Replacement in IPL 2023

Mumbai Indians (MI) have announced that English pacer Chris Jordan will replace the injured Jofra Archer for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Jordan, an experienced T20 player, joins the team for a fee of INR 2 Crore.

Jordan made his IPL debut in 2016 and has played 28 IPL matches, taking 27 wickets. The 33-year-old speedster has also represented England in 87 T20Is and has claimed 96 T20I wickets. His addition to the Mumbai Indians squad is expected to bolster their pace attack.

Jofra Archer, a key player for Mumbai Indians, has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 due to injury. The 27-year-old Barbados-born pacer has been a crucial part of the team since his debut in 2018. In his IPL career, Archer has played 35 matches, scored 196 runs, and taken 47 wickets.

The MI management said in a statement, “Chris Jordan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season. Chris replaces Jofra Archer, whose recovery and fitness continue to be monitored by ECB. Jofra will return home to focus on his rehabilitation.”

Archer, who was bought for INR 8 Crore, will undoubtedly be a significant loss for the team. However, MI will be looking to capitalize on Jordan’s experience and skill set as they aim for success in the remainder of the IPL 2023 season.
