The International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting to determine the fate of the 2025 Champions Trophy, originally scheduled for Friday, has been adjourned until Saturday following extensive discussions, according to sources. The meeting, attended by representatives from all member nations, including officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), aimed to resolve the ongoing deadlock regarding the tournament’s hosting.
India has firmly stated it will not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy due to security concerns, while Pakistan has insisted on hosting the tournament in its entirety. The ICC has urged both boards to explore a solution acceptable to all parties, with a resolution expected within 24 to 48 hours.

Political tensions have long impacted cricketing ties between India and Pakistan. India has not toured Pakistan since 2008 and last played a bilateral series in 2012-13. Both nations now primarily face each other in ICC tournaments and Asia Cups.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has dismissed the idea of a hybrid hosting model, where matches would be split between Pakistan and another venue, emphasizing that any decision will be based on equality. “We will do what is best for Pakistan cricket. It is not acceptable that we play in India and they don’t play here,” Naqvi stated.
Friday’s meeting lasted approximately 15 minutes, during which the ICC tasked both boards with identifying a mutually agreeable solution. The final decision will involve consultation with the respective governments of India and Pakistan.
