In the latest IPL 2023 injury and replacement update, Riley Meredith is set to replace Jhye Richardson for Mumbai Indians, with RCB’s Reece Topley also sidelined. Additionally, Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga will join Royal Challengers Bangalore next week.

Earlier, the Gujarat Titans named Dasun Shanaka as Kane Williamson’s replacement. Shreyas Iyer and RCB’s Rajat Patidar have also been ruled out due to injuries.

According to the statement released, the Mumbai Indians (MI) have announced that Australian fast bowler Riley Meredith will step in for his fellow countryman Jhye Richardson in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, as Richardson has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury.

Riley Meredith, the Australian pacer who has already played 5 T20Is and taken 8 wickets, including a three-wicket haul, has previously represented Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians in past IPL editions. Meredith joins MI for a fee of Rs 1.5 Crore.

Additionally, England fast bowler Reece Topley, who joined Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, has also been declared out of the tournament due to a dislocated right shoulder sustained during RCB’s opening match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 2.

Royal Challengers acquired Topley for INR 1.9 crore (around £190,000) after he entered the December auction with a base price of INR 75 lakh (approximately £75,000). Both Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians had shown interest in him. Topley is now the third Royal Challengers player, following Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar, to be sidelined by injuries this season.

According to Bangar, Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga are expected to join the team on April 10 and April 14, respectively. RCB will face Lucknow Super Giants at home on April 10, and Bangar did not rule out the possibility of Hasaranga making an appearance.

Hazlewood, who is recovering from an Achilles injury, could potentially play against Chennai Super Kings on April 17, as per Bangar. However, the bowler himself mentioned that he might have to wait until either of RCB’s matches on April 20 or 23 to make his return.
